...Panerai Studio Shot Of The Day...
Panerai Luminor PAM 372
On a Black Leather Strap
I have been looking for a long time to find a photo of a good looking black strap on a PAM372, and I don't recall ever seeing one. I have seen some black straps with white or ecru contrast stitching, but I can't figure out if I like that look. I definitely like the look of a black strap with black stitching, since it puts more focus on the watch and looks simple and masculine, and kind of mil-spec stealth.
I was wandering through my Panerai archive and stumbled into this photo of a 372 on an all black strap and I really like the look. This strap has a sewn in flat buckle, which I don't like.
I know some people think it looks more old-school-vintage with a sewn-in flat buckle, but I prefer the curved OEM buckle that comes standard with a PAM 372. A friend of mine once said he thought the curved OEM Panerai buckle looks like it belongs in the Museum Of Modern Art, since it is so streamlined and I agree.
I like the curved OEM buckle style (not shown) and I think it makes the 372 look more modern and timeless, and smaller. I have no idea what type of strap this is, but I saw it listed as being made out of Buffalo leather.
In the future, I plan to do a detailed story on all the different Panerai OEM strap that are available for the 372, and I will included photos that show all the different straps.

Just for frame of reference comparison, I though I would include the following photos Gil took of his PAM 372 on a black Panerai OEM strap with white contrast stitching. Gil said this is his strap for when he wants to dress up his 372 and wear it as a dress watch.
